SkyMall & Octodog
How I Met Your Mother reminded me of the hot dog cooker we had while I was growing up. I remember it showing up after a vacation to Disney World, so it is entirely possible it came from SkyMall. Wow. I remember the hot dogs being a little cold while the buns were a little too burnt.
In other hot dog news, the gadget that makes these is probably way more exciting for a kid.

Secret Lives of Great Authors
Secret Lives of Great Authors is a new book by Robert Schnakenberg that is full of interesting fun facts about writers from J.R.R. Tolkien to Kurt Vonnegut. For example:
- Ernest Hemmingway once wrested a critic to the ground after getting a bad review.
- Infamous recluse JD Salinger led Conga lines as the entertainment director for a Swedish luxury liner.

Record Store Day
Saturday, April 19 is Record Store Day nationwide. The event was created “with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally.” Independent stores will have various events (foosball with Menomena!) and exclusive releases. I will take any excuse to go to Shake It, but limited edition Stephen Malkmus and Built To Spill records will pretty much guarantee my attendance.
