The Pogues - Fairytale of New York
If you watch until the end, I think that you can literally see Shane MacGowen pull one of his teeth out.

Fluxtumblr has an amazing Guided By Voices mix that he put together for people who want to hear more from the band’s massive catalog. There are no songs from their greatest hits record, Bee Thousand or Alien Lanes because it’s intended for people who have heard those songs but want to dig a little deeper.

Supposedly this is the album cover for the new Animal Collective record, Merriweather Post Pavilion. That’s not animated, its just messing with your eyes. (via Stereogum)
Overthinkingit.com discovers the mysterious correlation between US oil production and the quality of rock music. They did it by entering in Rolling Stone’s list of “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” in Excel and doing some impressive number crunching. Given the finite amount of oil in the US, it looks like we’re getting ready to run out of good songs. (via Buzzfeed)

Two great videos for two songs I can’t get enough of lately.
A couple of weeks back I posted a video of the Rockafire Explosion (the animatronic band from Showbiz Pizza) performing Usher’s “Love In This Club.” The performance was choreographed by a guy named Chris Trash, who has a fully working version of the band in his garage. The Rockafire Explosion: The Movie is a documentary about the “band” and more specifically about Chris. I definitely underestimated the impact BIlly Bob and the band had on kids in the 80s. The mixtape goes from a cassette, to a burned CD, to a Muxtape, and back around again with the Mixtape USB Drive. Load a tape’s worth of songs on the USB drive, write out the playlist on the tape cover and give it to someone you love. (via Uncrate)
Where I grew up, Chuck E. Cheese was unheard of and Showbiz Pizza was the place to have birthday parties. I remember playing skeeball with nervous anticipation of Billy Bob and the band. I even had an album of Showbiz cover songs on vinyl, which may be my first record. My mind may be deceiving me, but I remember them covering The Doors “Light My Fire.” From the video above, it looks like Billy Bob is looking for a comeback. Although, I can’t help but notice how many empty moonshine bottles are littered around him. (via Gorilla vs. Bear)
